Overview
Fly-In at the Falls is a community-powered paramotor gathering presented by Freedom Flight Academy. Expect scenic flights over lake shores, river valleys, farmland, and rolling hills—each day offering a fresh route and feel. Early mornings bring calm, fog-kissed air; days are packed with park amenities; and evenings keep the vibe alive with music and social hangouts. Whether you’re here to fly, relax, or compete, this fly-in is designed to be a hidden gem with abundant amenities and things to do.
Morning Flights
- Sunrise around 5:30am with shaded river valleys and farmland—ideal for smooth, foggy sessions.
- Diverse terrain to explore: lake, river valleys, farmland, and rolling hills for varied routes.
Daytime Amenities (Within 5 Minutes)
- State Park amenities: pool, diner, lakeside cabins, disc golf course, marina with boat rentals, basketball and tennis courts.
- Children’s playground located at the south end of the runway.
- Lafayette Golf Course: offers a free shuttle for the event; located at Falls of Rough Resort a few miles west of the airport.
Evening & Nightlife
- Sunset around 8pm, then head to the Resort Pub for karaoke.
- Friday night Bluegrass Concert until 10pm.
Competitions & Tech
- STOL and paramotor competition tasks supported by the Gaggle Flight Recorder app, featuring 3D route tracking and integrated scoring.
On-Site Support & Vendors
- Vendors on the field with essentials: props, spark plugs, oil, and more.
Fuel & Maintenance
- Gas station approximately 500 feet across the road with multiple fuel options, including ethanol-free.
Lodging
- State Park Lodge and two motels within sight of the airport.
- Falls of Rough Resort about 5 minutes away.
- Ask for special event rates when inquiring about rooms.
