Cape Odyssey

The Cape Odyssey is an annual paragliding challenge hosted by the Glen Paragliding Club and supported by Gaggle. It’s designed to inspire pilots to explore the Cape Town region, build advanced flying skills, and strengthen community through shared flights, mentorship, and safety-minded adventure. Pilots earn points by tagging GPS turnpoints, with scoring that rewards exploration, distance, and flying together.

Scoring Overview

• Site score modifiers:
  • Each launch has a multiplier that increases for lesser-flown sites to encourage exploration
• Turnpoint modifiers:
  • Multipliers increase with distance and difficulty
  • Turnpoint radius: 500 m
• Gaggle (group) modifiers:
  • Extra points when more pilots tag the same turnpoint on the same day
• Daily bonus points:
  • First pilot to post a weather update from launch (per site) in the Cape Odyssey WhatsApp group earns bonus points

• Managed by the Glen Club
• Monthly standings presented at the Glen Social
• Scores posted on the Glen Club website and shared via the Gaggle WhatsApp group
